Investigators found no wrongdoing in a fatal workplace accident Saturday that killed an employee of the Pareen Construction Co.

Matthew Hentnik, 41, of Quade Road, Amsterdam, was working with another man on the boom of a crane at a site on Route 67 when the boom buckled and pinned Hentnik to the ground, Montgomery County Undersheriff Jeff Smith said. Witnesses were able to raise the boom and administered first aid until Hentnik could be rushed to St. Mary's Hospital, but he later died at the hospital, Smith said.

"Our investigation concluded that it was an unfortunate accident and one of those things that can happen when working with heavy equipment," Smith said. "It's fairly cut and dry what happened, according to witnesses."
