Police have charged two people in the 2007 murder of Fonda resident John L. Belfance.
Mario Williams and Diana Brachfield, both of Columbus, are facing murder and other charges following an investigation into the August 1, 2007, shooting, Columbus police Sgt. Harvey Hatcher said this morning. Hatcher did not have further details on the two suspects.
Belfance, a truck driver, was 52 when he was found dead in the cab of his truck around 2 a.m. in the southern part of the city.
Police at the time said he was found in a dark parking lot in the city near the Alabama border and about 110 miles south of Atlanta. Belfance worked for Amsterdam-based C.V. Holdings, a plastics manufacturer with a production facility in Alabama.
Hatcher said he expected detectives more familiar with the case to be available for comment later today.
