A Middleburgh man has been charged with stabbing his mother Friday in her home.

A man has been charged with stabbing his mother Friday in her home.

State police said Schoharie County sheriff's deputies received a 911 call about 8:40 a.m. reporting that Cecilia Brisson, 60, of 237 Bell Hill Road, had been stabbed in the thigh and was bleeding profusely. Troopers said Brisson had been stabbed by her son, Andrew F. Brisson Jr., 30, also of Bell Hill Road, then had run next door to the home of her daughter, Stephanie, who made the call to 911.

Cecilia Brisson was initially taken to Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill, but was later transferred to Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

Sheriff's deputies took Andrew Brisson into custody without incident at his mother's home, where he remained after the stabbing, troopers said. Andrew Brisson was found to be at the home in violation of an order of protection, troopers said.

Andrew Brisson was charged with first-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated criminal contempt, all felonies, troopers said. He was arraigned in Town Court and sent to the Schoharie County jail without bail.
