Senior Lauren Aird scored the game-winning goal 44 seconds into overtime Sunday as the Connecticut field hockey team, ranked No. 6 in the nation, survived an upset bid by the University at Albany.

After playing 50 scoreless minutes, the Great Danes (7-9) got on the board when senior Michelle Simpson tipped the ball in off the pads of Huskies goalie Andrea Mainiero.

The Huskies (11-1) tied the game three minutes later when Aird set up Jennifer Kleinhans on a penalty corner.

WEST HARDFORD, Conn. — Hartford scored three goals in the final 9:38 to break open a close game and defeat the Great Danes in an America East Conference game.

Laura Guigli scored her first two goals of the season for the Hawks (6-4-4, 3-1-1 AE), The loss dropped the Great Danes to 1-3 in the conference and 3-13 overall.

Anthony Tagliaferri at 72:32 to give the Saints a victory over the Jaspers in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Sean Russell had given the Jaspers (2-9-1, 0-1-1 MAAC) the lead in the 33rd minute, but the Saints (4-5-1, 2-0-0) pulled

even at 40:13 when Robert DiFil­ippo scored on a breakaway.

Saints rebound

LOUDONVILLE — Kelly Hummell had 20 kills, and Burgandy

McCurty added 18 as Siena rebounded from a first-game loss to defeat Marist, 24-26, 25-12, 28-26, 25-13, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match.

Setter April London chipped in with 11 kills, 47 assists and six digs for the Saints (8-9, 6-2 MAAC).

Knights sweep

ALBANY — Junior Jaclyn Griffin had a match-high 12 kills, and freshman Marilyn Glamack added seven kills and 11 digs as The College of Saint Rose swept Pace, 26-24, 25-16, 25-20, in a Northeast-10 Conference match.

The Golden Knights have won six of their last eight matches to improve to 5-2 in the conference and 10-5 overall.
