Tim Murdick acounted for three touchdowns Saturday, and Averill Park beat Scotia-Glenville, 24-14, to secure the Class A Southeast Division’s No. 4 seed for the upcoming playoffs.

Murdick’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Andy Goyer in the fourth quarter sealed the victory as Averill Park (2-3, 3-4) earned a quarterfinal matchup with Northwest Div­ision champion Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, and sent Scotia-Glenville (1-4, 1-6) on to a crossover game next week.

Murdick scored on runs of five and 65 yards, and Bill Goodermote kicked a 30-yard field goal, as Averill Park built a 17-7 halftime lead.

Shawn Dedrick caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Cody Rumney, and Rumney ran one yard for another Scotia-Glenville TD.

Murdick rushed for 87 yards on five carries.

Several other games Saturday had playoff implications.

GLOVERSVILLE — Kyle Kelly and Steve O’Sick clicked on a desperation 69-yard touchdown pass with nine seconds left, and Dan Morrison ran for the two-point conversion to propel Glens Falls (3-2, 4-3) past Gloversville (2-3,

3-4) in a game that determined the Class A Northwest Division’s

No. 3 and No. 4 seeds.

Kelly and O’Sick connected on a fourth-and-10 play.

Morrison rushed for three touchdowns and 153 yards on 27 carries, and O’Sick had four receptions for 142 yards. O’Sick also hauled in a

26-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter, before Gloversville answered with two scores to take the lead.

Gloversville quarterback Chad McCloskey was 21-for-29 for a school-record 339 yards and three touchdowns, two going to Gabe Wells and another to Matt Baldwin. Wells set a school record with 11 receptions covering 158 yards.

QUEENSBURY — Paul Layton ran for three touchdowns, hit

Keaton Flint with a 46-yard scoring pass and kicked six extra points as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (5-0, 7-0) completed its second perfect regular season in three years.

Layton broke off a 78-yard touchdown run as part of a 28-point first quarter, and finished with 143 rushing yards on six carries. Erik Vuillaume added two touchdowns for the Spartans, who are ranked

No. 4 in the state.

Burnt Hills surrendered a touchdown for only the fourth time this year when Marco DiCaprio tallied for Queensbury (1-4, 2-5) in the second quarter. The Spartans starting defense has allowed two touchdowns.

Nylin hit Greg Kehrer with two touchdown passes, found Bill Bonneau and Nick Colello for two more, and Kehrer also ran 45 yards for a touchdown.

Cutis Holloman and Jalon Scott scored two touchdowns apiece for the Falcons, one of Scott’s coming on a 75-yard scamper.

Craig Streeter rushed 11 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns for Hudson Falls (3-1, 6-1), the West Division’s No. 2 seed behind Schalmont, and Albany Academy’s opponent next week.

Jake Arrunategui had the lone touchdown for Johnstown (1-3, 2-5). Johnstown’s loss gave Broadalbin-Perth (1-3, 2-5) a playoff berth.

4-3). Cadets quarterback Hunter McCarthy was 17-for-23 for 223 yards, while Chris Pelcher led the defense with three sacks.

No. 4), which plays at Schalmont next week, scored first on Talib Barksdale’s second-quarter run. Hudson’s defense came up with three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

David Guynup and Josh Harrison also picked off passes for Mechanicville (2-4, 3-4), and Zach Herrington and Dorr recovered fumbles, with Herrington’s

38-yard return setting up the game’s first score.

Guynup rushed for a game-high 96 yards on 16 carries, and Dorr had 65 yards on 15 attempts.

SALEM — Derrick Pitts rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries, and the Golden Knights reached five victories for the first time since the 1976 season.

Tommaso Mancino rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, and Jordan LaFontaine also scored for Bishop Gibbons (5-2), which hosts unbeaten Lake George next Saturday.

“We played a bad first half, but the kids responded in the second half and got a real nice win,” said ND-BG coach Joe Whipple. “Getting to five wins is a great accomplishment. Hopefully we can get a couple more.”

Bishop Gibbons did not win a game last season, and had only two wins in the three seasons before that. The school’s 1976 team finished with a 5-3-1 record, and ND-BG last posted six victories in 1972 (6-2-1).

Alex Baker produced three touchdowns for Salem (1-6), two on passes from Ryan Jameson and another on an 81-yard kickoff return to cap the scoring.
