Emory Mort outlasted a field of about 1,350 runners this morning to win the 33rd annual Gazette Stockade-athon.

Mort, 25, of Ghent, completed the 15-kilometer course through the city in 47:52, outkicking 2007 champion Andy Allstadt of Albany, who finished in 48:47.

The women's winner was Kaitlin O'Sullivan, 23, of Syracuse, who crossed the finish line in 55:51. Jennifer Adams of Gansevoort finished second in 56:50.

Mort went to Cornell University, where he ran at distances ranging from 1,500 to 10,000 meters, as well as competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Mort won the Bruegger’s Bagel Run in Albany on Sept. 7.

O'Sullivan is a graduate of SUNY Oneonta, where she was a nine-time SUNYAC champion, a four-time ECAC champion and a four-time All-American, racing at distances ranging from 500 to 5,000 meters, as well as in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She is affiliated now with the Syracuse Chargers track club.

Masters division winners were Jeff Niedeck of Canaan, Conn., in 52:03 and 1998 and 2001 women's overall champion Emily Bryans of Schenectady in a record women's masters time of 57:24.
