Schenectady woman charged with slapping soccer coach

A Schenectady woman faces a felony charge for allegedly hitting a school soccer coach last month.

A local woman faces a felony charge for allegedly hitting a school soccer coach last month.

City police spokesman Kevin Green said Della Marie Collier, 36, of Western Parkway was stopped by police Saturday on the Western Gateway Bridge just before 5 p.m. after an officer observed her running a red light at the intersection of Liberty Street and Erie Boulevard.

When the officer ran her name through the computer, it showed that she had an outstanding warrant.

Green said Collier is the mother of a student and, on Oct. 14, slapped the modified soccer coach at Schenectady High School, which caused the coach to suffer a neck injury.

Collier has been charged with felony second-degree assault.
