Montgomery County sheriff's deputies are looking for someone they are calling a "person of interest" in the robbery of the Stewart's Shop in Fort Johnson on Nov. 11.
Nearly a week after two people robbed the East Main Street store at gunpoint, police have not made any arrests. Undersheriff Jeffrey Smith said the office is looking for one of the store's customers prior to the robbery, which happened about 10:15 p.m. Deputies have not been able to identify the person, who was wearing a red shirt and was talking on a cellphone.
Smith said deputies have conducted several interviews and are following up with all leads.
"Sometimes investigations take longer than we'd like," Smith said today.
The first suspect, who displayed a black handgun, is described as a 200-pound male between 5-foot 9 and 5-foot 10, wearing a black knit ski mask and dark colored hoodie. The second suspect was possibly a woman with blonde hair, between 5-foot 3 and 5-foot 5, wearing a red piece of clothing covering her head and face, gray pants and a gray sweater.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 853-5500.
