Xi Chen, left, and Dominic H. Grande, both of Clifton Park, face criminal charges of providing alcohol to an underage man killed in a one-car accident early Saturday morning in the town.

State police have charged two underage men with providing alcohol to another who was killed in a one-car accident early Saturday.

Troopers said Xi Chen, 19, of 30 Sterling Heights, hosted an underage drinking party at his home on Friday night which Philip D. Rogers attended, while Dominic H. Grande, 19, of 5A Candlelight Court, provided alcohol to Rogers at his home before the party.

Troopers said Rogers had just left the party when he was killed in the crash on Tanner Road about 3 a.m. Saturday. The victim in the crash was initially misidentified by troopers as Josh Lavigne, after tracing the car’s registration to Lavigne and finding a wallet and ID belonging to him in it.

Troopers said they have determined that speed and alcohol were likely factors in the crash.

Chen and Grande were each charged with a misdemeanor count of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. Chen is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Clifton Park Town Court, while Grande is scheduled to appear Thursday in Halfmoon Town Court.

Troopers said the investigation is continuing.
