Police have arrested two Schenectady men following a fight Sunday morning that sent one man to the hospital with multiple stab wounds.
Dwight Williams, 31, of 32 Moyston St., and James E. Steele, 33, of 1492 Broadway, were both arrested for second degree assault.
The fight occurred around 4 a.m. outside the entrance to Club 388 at 388 Broadway. City officers on routine patrol broke up the fight and found a 25-year-old male on the floor just inside the club’s entrance who had been stabbed multiple times in the torso.
Saratoga EMS responded to the scene and the victim was transported to the Malta Commons where a helicopter could land to take him to Albany Medical Center. The victim’s identity has not been released and his condition is unavailable.
Witnesses at the scene provided offers with a description of the suspects, who were located two minutes later, police said.
Williams and Steele are being held pending arraignment in city court.
Detective Lt. Gregory Veitch said there are a few stabbings a year in Saratoga Springs but rarely are they as serious as this incident.
Police are asking that anyone who may have been at Club 388 around 4 a.m. to contact the department at 584-1800, or the police tip line at 584-TIPS.
