Executives at Finch Paper LLC in Glens Falls say the company plans to eliminate nearly 60 positions at the paper mill in the coming months.
Finch Paper LLC announced Monday that it will eliminate 57 full-time hourly positions.
Finch Chief Executive Joseph Raccuia says four employees will be laid off in early May and another 37 will be laid off on Aug. 31. Sixteen workers who left the company recently will not be replaced.
Finch laid off 43 salaried employees in January.
The company employs 780, including about 540 unionized hourly workers.
The layoffs come as the 144-year-old company deals with the poor economy and falling demand for the uncoated paper its mill produces.
