Police Saturday continued looking for the man who fatally shot a woman in the Eastern Avenue Deli & Grocery late Friday.
They identified the victim as Laurel L. Teer, 41, of 1011 Union Ave. Apt. 1B. Police and witnesses said Teer was a customer at the store when a man entered and shot her in the head at 10:19 p.m.
Police said the man appeared to be robbing the store and “interacted” with Teer.
They are examining video taken from the store, owned by Mohamed Aldhala.
Police reported no arrests or new information on the case as of press time Saturday night.
This is the fourth gunshot killing reported in the city this year.
Aldhala said Friday night he was asleep in an apartment above the store when he heard a shot. His three sons were working in the store.
The suspect is described as a tall, thin black man who was dressed in all black with a red bandana over his face.
He reportedly fled into Vale Cemetery, and police helicopters searched the area Friday night, along with police dogs from the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office.
The deli at 838 Eastern Ave. was still closed Saturday afternoon, with a police car parked out front.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of the perpetrator to call the Police Tips Line at 788-6566.
A relative who asked not to be identified said Saturday that Teer’s father, John Clark, was on his way to the area from Florida, where he lives.
Teer is originally from Middletown, she said.
