The New York State Summer Writers Institute begins Monday and runs through July 24. All programs begin at 8 p.m. at Skidmore College’s Davis Auditorium.

Monday: Richard Howard (Pulitzer Prize, Poetry, “Talking Cures”) and Binnie Kirschenbaum (novelist, “Hester Among the Ruins”)

Tuesday: Elizabeth Benedict (novelist, “Almost”) and Margot Livesey (fictionist, “Eva Moves the Furniture”)

Wednesday: Mary Gordon (novelist, “Pearl”) and Frank Bidart (poet, “Desire”)

Thursday: Katha Pollitt (columnist, The Nation) and Howard Norman (novelist, “the Bird Artist”)

July 3: Phillip Lopate (author, “Waterfront”) and April Bernard (poet, “Romanticism”)

July 6: Robert Pinsky (former U.S. Poet Laureate) and Jim Shepard (“Like You’d Understand, Anyway”)
