About 5,000 customers in Glenville and Schenectady were without power for several hours this afternoon. This morning, 3,400 customers in Scotia, Glenville and Schenectady lost power from an underground cable fault.

According to spokesman Patrick Stella of National Grid, lightning strikes from the scattered storms in the Capital Region caused the outages.

Currently, less than 200 customers are out of power and the problems are being worked on as quickly as possible, Stella said.
