A local woman was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated Sunday after picking up her friend, who had been arrested on drug charges, from the police station.

Police stopped Melissa Delgado, 38, of 42 Church St. in Hagaman on Guy Park Avenue around 6 a.m. for driving without a state inspection sticker on her windshield.

Delgado informed police that she had just been to police headquarters to pick up Pedro Dumey, of 4 Lark St., who had been arrested earlier Sunday morning on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance after police found two small bags of white powder in his car after he was spotted going the wrong way down Guy Park Avenue.

Police said Delgado smelled of alcohol. She failed field sobriety tests and police also found that she had an active bench warrant in Amsterdam City Court.
