SCHENECTADY — Police are looking for a man they say shot a woman while she stood outside her apartment Sunday morning.

Averil D. Hall, 28, was shot in the face while she was standing on the second floor landing of 1324 Chrisler Ave., around 5:50 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The suspect, who is described as a black male, wearing a red and white jacket, got into an older model four-door vehicle and fled east toward Altamont Avenue.

Hall was first taken to Ellis Hospital then transported to Albany Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition, police said.

Neighbors reported only seeing the police cars later in the day but did not see the incident because of the early hour. They did not know much about Hall.

“I only see here coming in and out,” said William Melendez, who added that there are problems with drugs in the neighborhood.
