Montana officials put hold on Schenectady/Ely visit

School officials from Billings, Mont., are not coming to visit Schenectady as part of Superintendent

School officials from Billings, Mont., are not coming to visit Schenectady as part of Superintendent Eric Ely’s job interview — at least not right away.

Ely is one of four finalists for a position there. Instead, the Billings School Committee is going to conduct one-hour video conferences with the four finalists, according to committee member Mary Fox. Scheduling conflicts made it impossible to arrange the visit at this time.

Fox said the board may still do the site visits at some point.

Ely is also in the running for positions in Arlington, Mass. and Erie, Pa. Arlington is holding community forums for the three finalists this week.
