A 19-year-old Clifton Park man was killed Thursday when the motorcycle he was operating on Riverview Road went off the road and hit a utility pole.
State police said Christopher J. Parsons of Van Vranken Road was operating the motorcycle at a high rate of speed west on Riverview Road shortly before 5:30 p.m. when he passed another vehicle on a curve.
The motorcycle was unable to negotiate the curve and went off the shoulder of the road, traveled about 100 feet, and hit the pole, police said.
Parsons was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Troy by Halfmoon Emergency Medical Services and was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. Thursday. An autopsy was performed Friday at Albany Medical Center and blunt force trauma was listed as the cause of death.
