Dani Hennel put together another dominating performance with a three-hit shutout and 14 strikeouts to lead Duanesburg past Mayfield, 5-0, in the semifinals of the Section II Class C softball tournament Friday at Clifton Common.
Emily Mayo ripped a triple and a single, Caitlyn Sanders contributed two singles and Nicole Dexter doubled for the 18-4 Eagles.
The Eagles will take on sixth-seeded Greenwich, which blanked second-seeded Loudonville Christian, 6-0.
Sara Heimbach tossed a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts for the 9-11 Witches. Sarah Galbraith produced the big hit of the game with a three-run double in the seventh.
Dani DeGregory chipped in with two singles for Greenwich, while Valerie King collected both hits for 15-4 Loudonville Christian.
The Class C championship game will be played Wednesday at 3 p.m.at Clifton Common.
Meanwhile, in the Class CC tournament, both Wasaren League teams triumphed to set up an all-Wasaren championship game, also to be played Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Clifton Common.
Hoosic Valley, the eighth seeded, crushed Maple Hill, 13-2. Sophomore pitcher Morgan Anderson tossed a five-hitter and struck out eight, while both Whitney Kugler and Barb Drescher ripped three hits. The Indians scored nine times in the fourth inning.
Second-seeded Hoosick Falls earned a shot at its Wasaren rival by blanking Chatham, 2-0.
Rachael Quackenbush stymied Chatham with a three-hit shutout and 14 strikeouts for 20-2 Hoosick Falls.
Kayla Doty struck out six and allowed only two hits for Chatham.
