SALEM -- State police are investigating the apparent alcohol or drug overdose death of a woman at a house party in Washington County.
Police say the woman, described as in her early 40s, fell unconscious early Saturday at a home in Salem, about 42 miles northeast of Schenectady. Police and the rescue squad were called to the house around 5:30 a.m., and an ambulance took the woman to a hospital.
An autopsy was planned to find the cause of death.
Authorities said she had been drinking at the party and had a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.40 percent.
The woman's name was not released.
