A Johnstown woman suffered a head injury Tuesday after losing the brakes on her car and slamming into a house.
Anna V. Biel, 31, of 140 Cable Rd., was traveling south on Switzer Hill Road, which ends at state Route 5 at a steep decline, when she experienced brake failure, struck a grate in the road, went airborne, spun around and struck the house, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's department.
The vehicle hit the outside of a second floor apartment, causing damage both inside and outside the house.
No injuries were suffered by people inside the house. An investigator said all the possessions of one of the apartment's occupants were thrown to an inside wall by the impact.
Biel was taken by GAVAC ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment, according to police.
The Fonda, Fultonville and Mohawk fire departments joined state police at the scene.
No tickets were issued.
