Schenectady woman charged in teen’s stabbing

Police arrested a Kelton Avenue woman and charged her in the stabbing of a 14-year-old teen early

Police arrested a Kelton Avenue woman and charged her in the stabbing of a 14-year-old teen early Saturday morning.

Letesha Henry, 28, was arrested a couple of hours after the stabbing and arraigned on charges of assault, attempted murder and endangering the welfare of a child.

The 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after being stabbed in the midsection around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to city police.

Police responded to 23 Odell St. after multiple calls of a fight and mention of a knife, said Patrolman Adriel Linyear.

The boy was found at the scene with a stab wound in his back when police arrived. The teen was immediately rushed to Albany Medical Center, according to police.

A witness said Saturday they had seen what they thought was the suspect running away from the scene. Linyear said the person the witness may have seen running was actually the victim.

The reason for the incident is still unknown. Police said Henry and the victim are not related, and the investigation is ongoing.
