An Amsterdam man accused last week of flashing a woman on Guy Park Avenue is now accused of grabbing another woman and exposing himself to her inside a city church in March.
Mark J. Aldi II, 25, of 56 Greene St., Apt. 2, was charged today with first-degree attempted sexual abuse and public lewdness, according to Amsterdam police.
Police said Aldi accosted the unidentified woman inside Trinity Lutheran Church on Guy Park Avenue on March 18 as she was preparing to teach a class. The woman was able to escape unharmed after she screamed and another person entered the church, police said.
Police found no suspects at that time, but an investigation into a May 17 report of a man exposing himself to another woman led to Aldi's arrest. Police said they received a call about 4:30 p.m. that day from a woman who said a heavyset man had exposed himself to her in the area of Guy Park Avenue and Wall Street.
The victim gave a good description of the suspect, police said, and Aldi was located by officers a few minutes later on Greene Street. After being taken to police headquarters, police said Aldi admitted to detectives he was the person who exposed himself to the woman and he was charged with one count of public lewdness.
Aldi was sent to the Montgomery County jail on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond after being arraigned in City Court on that charge. He was arraigned today in City Court on the new charges and sent back to jail on $5,000 bail.
