Man arrested in stabbing, robbery at ice cream store

Police arrested a man Sunday for allegedly robbing and stabbing a clerk at an ice cream store.

Police arrested a man Sunday for allegedly robbing and stabbing a clerk at an ice cream store.

Two men assaulted the clerk at the Corner Ice Cream Store at 302 Ninth St. on Friday and took about $500. The clerk suffered serious stab wounds on his arm and stomach. One of the men also displayed a handgun and threatened to shoot the clerk, according to police.

Officers arrested Jahmar T. Battiste, 21, of 341 First St. in Troy at 1:20 a.m. He was charged with multiple felonies, including two counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Battiste was arraigned in Troy Police Court and sent without bail to the Rensselaer County Jail.
