A woman suffered multiple stab wounds early today in Colonie and police this morning released a description the man believed to be her attacker.

The woman was stabbed multiple times in her abdomen and leg and is expected to survive, police said.

Police believe she was stabbed sometime between 12:15 a.m. 1:30 a.m. on Industrial Road, behind the Northway Mall.

Police were called after the woman arrived at Albany Medical Center, taken there by a friend.

She told police she met her attacker on Central Avenue in Albany, near Robin Street, then drove with him to Industrial Road, where she was attacked.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 45 and 55 years old, weighing 145 to 160 pounds. He had a mustache and beard, was wearing a hat, and is believed to have short, black hair, police said.

He was driving a gold, four-door sedan with a tan or cream color interior.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744.
