Bison, Streaks Suburban cross country champs

The Shaker boys and Saratoga Spings girls won team championships Saturday at the Suburban Council C

The Shaker boys and Saratoga Spings girls won team championships Saturday at the Suburban Council Championships at Saratoga Spa State Park.

Mike Libruk and Jon Vallecorsa went 1-2, and teammate Christian Delago placed fourth as the Blue Bison’s first five runners were all ninth or better.

Buddy Herkenham of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake was third.

Lizzie Predmore of Shenendehowa was the individual winner in the girls’ race, but Saratoga had four place in the top eight to win. Taylor Driscoll (second) and Estela Smith (third) led the Blue Streaks.

Queensbury took the first five boys’ places, and the girls’ team grabbed the top six posts, as the Spartans swept the Tartan Invit­ational at Indian Meadows Park.

Albany’s Philo Germano was the boys’ winner, and Katherine Clemente of Troy led the girls at the Harvest Classic at Knickerbocker Park.
