Lizzy Morton recorded 12 kills to help Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake to a sweep of Section III champion Fulton in a girls’ Class A regional final, earning a trip to the state semifinals with a 25-16, 25-10, 25-16 victory.
Natalie Ziskin handed out 33 assists and Siena Wilder had 12 digs as the 28-2 Spartans reached their 10th consecutive state final four. Fulton finished the season 10-6.
Shenendehowa was swept by Section III’s Baldwinsville in Class AA, 25-15, 25-10, 25-21. The Lady Plainsmen (19-4) got nine points, three aces and nine kills from
Hunter Drews. Melissa Morgan recorded 16 digs.
In Class C, Voorheesville made short work of Section VII champ AuSable Valley, 25-6, 25-5, 25-8, to improve to 20-0. Caroline Bablin had 13 points and 10 blocks, Libby Bjork had 17 assists, and Sarah Dykstra combined with Mariel McGinnis to total 10 kills.
Johnstown beat Beekmantown (VII) in five games, 25-22, 25-22, 13-25, 21-25, 25-18, to win in Class B.
In Class D, Hartford swept Northern Adirondack (VII), 25-20, 25-16, 25-18.
Mike Marshman floored 16 kills as Bethlehem (18-0) beat Section I champion Suffern (ranked eighth in the state), 25-11, 25-17, 25-16.
Benji Federman added 29 assists, while John McCarty and Mike Carrk had six kills apiece for the fourth-ranked Eagles.
Bethlehem will play in the state tournament Saturday at Cicero-North Syracuse.
