Police are searching for 12-week-old Madison Green, right, who was last seen with her biological mother, Janel Davis, left.

The 3-month-old baby sought by Schenectady police since disappearing with her biological mother was found this morning.

Schenectady police said Madison Green was turned over about 10:30 a.m. to staff at Blessed Sacrament Church on Central Avenue in Albany by an unidentified man. Police said the baby was taken for evaluation to Albany Medical Center as a precaution.

Madison had been missing since Jan. 25, when workers from Schenectady County Child Protective Services tried to take custody from her mother, Janel Davis, 28, on the order of a Schenectady County Family Court judge. Davis was arrested Friday on perjury charges after claiming through her attorney that she was not the child's mother.

In court Friday, however, Davis said the baby was taken by a female gang member who had threatened and intimidated her. The mother of the gang member, however, said her daughter did not have the child, although the mother said she had cared for the child for a time after Davis had abandoned her.
