A Middleburgh man was killed today in a logging accident.
Schoharie County sheriff's deputies said Charalambos Ioannou, 57, was working with his 21-year-old son, Panayiotis, to cut trees along the Schoharie Creek that had been damaged by flooding during Tropical Storm Irene.
While cutting down a tree, it kicked back and pinned Charalambous Ioannou. His son cut the tree off him and drove him to the edge of Route 145.
He was treated at the scene and transported by Middleburgh Ambulance to Cobleskill Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
