Vehicle collides with South Colonie school bus

Emergency personnel are cleaning up debris at the scene of an accident involving a South Colonie sch

Three people suffered minor injuries at about 7 a.m. today when a South Colonie School District bus collided with a car on Central Avenue, about one mile east of Mohawk Commons.

Personnel from the nearby Stanford Heights Fire Department station aided in the extrication of those involved.

One student suffered minor head injuries and the driver of the car suffered minor injuries, according to John Courter, Stanford Heights 2nd assistant chief. Both were transported to a local hospital. According to the school district's website, a school bus monitor suffered a minor back injury.

Courter said there were six students, the bus monitor and the driver aboard the bus at the time of the accident. It is district bus No. 86.

Emergency personnel closed down one lane of Central Avenue eastbound and directed traffic around the accident.

According to a statement on the school district website, the bus pulled out of Kendale Avenue onto Central Avenue about 7:10 a.m. and collided with the car. The remaining students were transported to school on another bus.
