Pair suspected of burglaries in Rotterdam neighborhood

Two arrests have been made in connection to a string of burglaries in the Myrtle Avenue neighborhood

Two arrests have been made in connection to a string of burglaries in the Myrtle Avenue neighborhood following a tip from a Schalmont School bus driver this morning.

Timothy Beblowski, 35, and Amy Beblowski, 35, both of 2745 Myrtle Ave., have been charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and additional charges are pending, according to police. The pair was arrested in January by Rotterdam police for petty larceny and in December by Glenville police for petty larceny.

Police said they were contacted by a bus driver who was familiar with the recent burglaries and who observed the Beblowskis walking in the neighborhood of Ford Avenue.

Police responded to the area and a detective located the pair carrying several shopping bags full of groceries, a Wii entertainment game console with controllers and electric hair clippers. Additionally, police searched a backpack and discovered it was full of jewelry.

Following interviews with the suspects, police determined that the Beblowskis were responsible for six daytime burglaries in the neighborhood since late February.

The interview also enabled police to solve a six-month-old burglary case where appliances were stolen from two vacant condominiums on Edgewood Avenue and Cobblestone Court. The Beblowskis were also able to shed light on a burglary at 13th Street in Schenectady, where five rifles were stolen.

Both Beblowskis were to be arraigned in town court.
