Six people were displaced following an early morning fire in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood.
The blaze broke out at 3:15 a.m. in the rear of the two-story, wood-framed house at 1073-1075 Willett St., according to Deputy Fire Chief Michael Gillespie. It took roughly 2 1/2 hours for a crew of nearly 30 firefighters to bring the blaze under control.
The structure was significantly damaged and will have to be torn down, Gillespie said.
There were no injuries.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause but it does not appear to be suspicious, Gillespie said.
The American Red Cross said it provided emergency assistance to four adults and two children.
