SPAC announces plan to reduce New York City Ballet to one week in 2013

The Board of Directors of Saratoga Performing Arts Center today announced plans to reduce New York C

Saratoga Performing Arts Center plans to reduce the New York City Ballet season from two weeks to one week next year, SPAC officials announced today.

Officials said the expense of bringing the ballet here for two weeks was too much, but they plan to try to resume a two-week residency in 2014.

In the meantime, SPAC officials also are talking with the National Ballet of Canada and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet about having shows at SPAC next year in addition to the week of New York City Ballet.

This year's season, which starts Tuesday, will run a full two weeks.
