Three Colonial Council baseball players have been selected as first-team all-state players in their respective classifications.
Albany Academy’s Tyler Hynes (Class B), Kevin Connolly of Voorheesville (Class C) and Lansingburgh’s Ryan McGrath (Class A) earned first-team honors, as did LaSalle shortstop Zach Remillard (Class AA) and Fort Ann teammates Joe Foran and Jeff Johnson (Class D).
Hynes, who has committed to playing hockey at Union College, hit .443 and drove in 21 runs in leading the Cadets to the state semifinals.
Connolly went 8-3 with a 1.10 ERA as the Blackbirds also reached the state semis.
McGrath hit .572 for the Knights, driving in 26 runs.
Remillard, recently drafted in the 38th round by the Houston Astros, earned Big 10 MVP honors after hitting .406 for the Cadets.
CBA outfielder Matt Sand was a second-team Class AA pick, and Shenendehowa senior Miles Kelly made the third team after going 9-1 with a 1.24 for the Plainsmen.
Niskayuna catcher Dave Hoffman was a fourth team pick.
Class A champ Glens Falls had pitcher Zach Milton (10-0, 1.73) and shortstop Nick McKinney, both seniors, named to the second team. Teammate Mike Harrington was a fourth-team pick, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake freshman Danny Maynard made the sixth team.
Schalmont senior outfielder Nick Pascarella was a fifth-team pick.
Galway senior middle infielder Kyle Collins was a second-team selection in Class C, with Fort Plain teammates Harold Dettmer and Chris Hanifin both on the third team.
Voorheesville catcher Mike Chiseri was a fourth-team choice.
Loudonville Christian School teammates Ryan Paulsen (third team) and Tyler Spence (fourth team) got Class D honors.

SUTTON GOES 8-0
Recent LaSalle Institute grad Connor Sutton, a 2011 state high school champion, went 8-0 in Greco-
Roman at last weekend’s Junior National Duals in Oklahoma City.
Sutton had only eight points scored on him, seven of those in the only round he lost in the best-of-three rounds format. He wrestled at 160 in seven matches, and once at 170. He also finished 3-2 in freestyle.
Former Columbia standout Matt Greene, who went 50-2 his senior year, was 3-2 in freestyle at 152 and 5-2 in Greco wrestling at 145 at the event.
Shenendehowa had two wrestlers competing. David Almaviva was 2-1 in freestyle, and 4-4 at 145 in Greco. Levi Ashley split two freestyle matches at 195, and went 2-2 in Greco, going at both 195 and 220.
Bethlehem’s Matt Morris (113) was 1-3 in freestyle and 3-1 in Greco, and Ballston Spa’s James Ronca went 2-6 in Greco at 126 pounds.
Former Whitehall wrestler Tyrell White, who competed last year for Wyoming (Pa.) Seminary Prep, was 3-6 in freestyle and 8-0 in Greco-Roman.
Joe Clemente of LaSalle placed third in freestyle and fourth in Greco at the Kids Nationals in Orem, Utah. He wrestled in the 136-pound Schoolboy division

The Western Athletic Conference will have a three division setup for the 2012 boys’ and girls’ soccer seasons.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Duanesburg, Schoharie and Middleburgh (a combined 21-38-5 in 2012) will compete in one division; Canajoharie, Fort Plain, Sharon Springs and St. Johnsville (21-34-9) comprise a second group; and Galway, Mayfield, Mekeel Christian Academy and Northville (44-14-6) will make up third group.
The teams will play each division rival twice, and will play the other eight teams once each for a total of 14 league games of their regular-season 16-game schedules.
