Willy Beamin will try to win his fifth straight race, his fourth straight for trainer Rick Dutrow, and claim his largest purse of his career today in the $150,000 Albany at Saratoga Race Course.

The New York-bred race for 3-year-olds covers 11⁄8 miles on the main track.

Willy Beamin has won his last three races since being claimed by Dutrow and owner James Riccio for $25,000. They claimed the gelded grandson of A.P. Indy out of a winning effort at Aqueduct. Dutrow brought him to Belmont, where he rattled off three straight victories at three different distances.

He won at 11⁄16 miles, a mile and then at seven furlongs for Dutrow, the most recent coming in the $125,000 Mike Lee on June 24.

Alan Garcia will take over in the saddle.

The other two stakes winners in the field are Fox Rules and I’ll Stake U.

Fox Rules runs for trainer M. Anthony Ferraro and comes in off a victorious New York Derby appearance at Finger Lakes. In his four races before that, he ran turf routes, winning twice. He is the only horse in the Albany to have tried graded company, having run here last year in the Grade II With Anticipation, then at Belmont in the Grade III Pilgrim, both on turf. He also vied for the Grade III Sam

F. Davis and Grade II Tampa Derby.

He was never better than sixth in graded stakes.

Ridden by Jose Lezcano for Derek Ryan, I’ll Stake U was second to Fox Rules in the New York Derby, a $160,000 state-bred run over 11⁄16 miles. On May 6, he won the $100,000 New York Stallion Series Times Square Division at Belmont.

Zivo, trained by Mechanicville native Chad Brown, has won his last two starts, including a muddy 11⁄8 miles in an allowance here in his last. He won by a neck over Live for Today, who also is in the Albany. Zivo will be ridden by leading jockey Ramon Dominguez, while Live for Today gets Junior Alvarado.

Live for Today has been second in three of his last four starts and in the top three in six of his eight career wins.

Pearl of Wisdom broke his maiden here Aug. 9 at seven furlongs. Smokin Candy has made his living at Finger Lakes with a 3-0-3 record from his last six starts there, ranging from five furlongs to 11⁄16 miles. Quiet Favorite rounds out the field, having finished fourth two starts back in the Mike Lee, then a distant sixth in the New York Derby.
