TROY — Troy police said they are investigating the likely homicide of a man found dead on an apartment staircase Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Troy police responded to a report of a man deceased between the first and second floor of building four of the Taylor Apartments located on River Street at the base of the Congress Street bridge.

Upon investigation, police believe the 38-year-old victim was shot one or more times. An autopsy will confirm cause of death Monday.

Capt. John Cooney has confirmed the victim did not live in the apartment building where he was found.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide. The man’s name is being withheld until his family is notified.
