Union beaten in OT

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake graduate Phil Neumann threw two touchdown passes in the final three minute

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake graduate Phil Neumann threw two touchdown passes in the final three minutes of regulation and then fired a third TD strike for the game-winning score in overtime to propel Ithaca College over Union, 27-24, Saturday at Butterfield Stadium.

Neumann’s four-yard pass to Ingrao in OT helped Ithaca improve to 2-0. Union drops to 0-3, the same record it had last year before winning the next six games.

Ithaca trailed, 21-7, with 2:49 left in regulation before Neumann got untracked and hit Michael Moon on a six-yard TD strike and then found Steve DelMoro on a four-yard scoring pass with 1:39 left in regulation to force overtime.

In overtime, Tosin Kazeem kicked a 30-yard field goal for Union.

Sophomore quarterback Connor Eck completed 12 of 20 passes for 177 yards and a TD pass to Eric Zavadsky, and T.J. Franzese ran for 82 yards on 26 carries and rushed for a touchdown to lead the Dutchmen. Noah Joseph made 10 tackles to pace the Dutchmen defense.

Union opens Liberty League competition Saturday at St. Lawrence.
