The former St. Helen’s School in Niskayuna is closed today for a second day in the wake of flood damage from Tuesday night’s heavy rainstorm.
“It flooded out our basement and our first floor,” said school Principal Jennifer Chatain.
Crews are inside the school again this morning working on the damage, Chatain said. The damaged areas include the school’s cafeteria and hallways, she said.
The Union Street school was known for decades as St. Helen’s but recently changed to the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Parish School.
