A cocktail reception for the "Ninth Annual International Acquisitions Exhibition for Artists with Disabilities" will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital.
The event will feature food stations of appetizers and desserts by Lily and the Rose and entertainment by the Musicians of Ma'alwyck.
Artwork in the exhibit will be for sale to private individuals or can be purchased and donated to Sunnyview 's permanent art collection.
Tickets are $100 per person, and cocktail attire is requested.
Sunnyview 's "Exhibition for Artists with Disabilities" celebrates the creativity and vision of contemporary artists with physical and mental disabilities, including brain and spinal cord injuries, autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and blindness.
Fifty-nine artworks by 39 artists from 25 U.S. states and Argentina were selected for this year's exhibit.
This year's jurors were Jeanne Flanagan, director of the Esther Massry Gallery and adjunct art instructor at the College of Saint Rose, and Jim Richard Wilson, director of the Opalka Gallery and art history lecturer at The Sage Colleges.
The exhibit, which runs through Oct. 27, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Sunnyview Hospital, 1270 Belmont Ave.
Admission is free.
