Man, grandmother face fraud charges

A grandmother and her grandson are accused of illegally receiving Section 8 housing benefits or lyin

A grandmother and her grandson are accused of illegally receiving Section 8 housing benefits or lying on forms to get those benefits, authorities said.

Arline Martin, 73, of Hulett Street, faces one count each of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, felonies.

She is accused of neglecting to report on a form filed in March 2010 that her grandson Gary Vialet, who lived in her home, received money from employment. Doing so meant she received nearly $7,500 in housing assistance she wasn’t entitled to, according to papers filed in court.

Vialet, 37, was charged with two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a felony, accused of filing two forms failing to report his income, according to papers.
