SCHENECTADY — A city teen accused of stabbing another person in the stomach during an argument admitted to the attack in court on Tuesday, officials said.

Pharoah J. Nisby, 18, of Webster Street, pleaded guilty in Schenectady County Court to one count of second-degree assault, a felony.

In exchange, Nisby is to receive 2.5 years in state prison at his November sentencing.

He had faced a higher-level count of first-degree assault, prosecutor Brian Gray said, but multiple factors led to the plea deal, including the defendant’s age and that the victim agreed to it.

Nisby admitted to stabbing the man on April 22 near his residence. The victim suffered a lacerated spleen and a punctured lung. The victim has recovered.

The victim, Gray said, was the boyfriend of Nisby’s mother. They got into an argument and Nisby’s mother eventually threw Nisby out of the house.

A fight ensued, with Nisby grabbing a knife. During the fight, the victim was stabbed.
