Three Saratoga Springs police officers have been placed on suspension pending the outcome of an investigation into an alleged bar assault.
The Saratoga Springs Police Department is investigating an allegation that as many as three off-duty officers may have been involved in a dispute early Monday at Dango Fitzgerald’s on Caroline Street, according to an advisory that the department issued Tuesday evening.
The department received a call at 12:52 a.m. from a man who reported being assaulted at the bar around 12:15 a.m. He told police he believed the suspects were off-duty Saratoga Springs police officers.
The officers were not identified in the news release. All questions about the incident were referred to Police Chief Chris Cole, who did not return a call Tuesday evening.
The complainant received medical treatment later that day for minor injuries, according to the news release.
An initial investigation began at that time by on-duty supervisors, but the investigation has since been turned over to command-level staff and is continuing, the release said.
