Police allege a city man helped himself to items donated to a local organization working to help victims of domestic violence.
Carlos Figueroa, 18, of 2 Henrietta St., is facing felony burglary and misdemeanor stolen property charges following his arrest Wednesday, according to the Amsterdam Police Department.
Police in a release said investigators started knocking on doors in the vicinity of the garage used to store donations for Stop the Violence, an organization run by the burglary victim, when they found some of the stolen property inside the apartment with the same address as the garage. Interviews with occupants led to Figueroa's arrest, police said.
Figueroa was being held pending arraignment late Wednesday.
