City Police arrested a University at Albany student on charges that he hosted a drinking party on Spring Street, where some of the patrons were underage and at least one had to be hospitalized for intoxication.

Michael Marcus, 21, was charged with unlawfully dealing with a minor following the early morning bash. He was also ticketed for unnecessary and unusual noise under the city's general ordinances.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., police responded to 112 Spring St. for a report of a loud party. Investigating officers found roughly 70 people inside the home, causing a loud commotion and consuming alcohol.

During the course of their investigation, police found several individuals under 21 who were drinking beer. Four partygoers, including one who was unconscious, were intoxicated enough to be taken to the Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Marcus, who was identified as the host of the party, was subsequently arrested. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court this morning.

The arrest is the latest among a string of crackdowns in the city's Pine Hills neighborhood, which has a large student population. Earlier this week, city police arrested eight students and a visitor on charges that included hazing and unlawful gathering after investigating a noise complaint at the house of a fraternity that lost its recognition at UAlbany nine years ago.
