Volunteers will heap plates high with turkey and all of the trimmings this week at sites across the Capital Region where free Thanksgiving meals are being served.
Following is a listing of some of the free meals available this year:
Where: First Presbyterian Church at 362 State St. (at the corner of State and Willett streets); 434-0131
When: Thursday, 1 to 4 p.m.
Details: Sit-down dinner, but home delivery within a 40-mile radius of downtown Albany is also available by calling in advance. The event is open to the home-bound and anyone else who would otherwise not have a Thanksgiving dinner. No reservations are required.
Turkish Cultural Center
Where: 291 Broadway, Menands; 951-0309
When: Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m.
Details: Sit-down dinner. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling the center or by emailing email@example.com. The dinner is open to everyone.
Capital City Rescue Mission
Where: 259 South Pearl Street, Albany; 462-0459, ext. 227
When: Thursday, chapel service at 11 a.m., dinner served from noon to 2 p.m.
Details: Sit-down dinner, but take-out is also available.
Gloversville/Johnstown Councils of Churches
