Republican Assemblyman George Amedore's lead widened in the 46th Senate District as the counting of paper ballots in friendly counties continues today.
As of the latest update, provided by Amedore spokesman Kris Thompson, he had established a lead of about 340 votes in the district over Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk. Amedore has netted about 250 votes in Greene County and 125 votes in Schenectady County, as the counting of absentee and affidavit ballots continues this afternoon.
After these two counties, the race comes down to Montgomery and Ulster Counties, as Albany County was completed on Monday. Montgomery is scheduled to begin on Friday and, per a new court order, Ulster County will start next week.
The winner of this seat could swing control of the state Senate.
