Albany man dies after being hit by truck Wednesday

A man struck by a truck on Wednesday in Albany has died.

A man struck by a truck on Wednesday has died.

The accident occurred at about 7 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Erie Street.

Gerald Bruner, 57, of Albany was walking north across Erie Street when he was struck by a 2006 Dodge truck driven by 36-year-old Robert Dames, also of Albany.

Dames was taking a left-hand turn onto Erie Street. After striking Bruner, Dames stopped his vehicle immediately and called 911. Firefighters treated Bruner at the scene and transported him to Albany Medical Center, where he died Thursday afternoon from the trauma suffered in the accident.

No charges have been filed and the accident is under investigation.
