Glenridge Road from Bruce Drive to Maple Avenue will be closed today and Wednesday for construction.
The closure is necessary to allow setting of the steel for the D&H railroad bridge. The work will begin after 7 a.m. today and last until 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Department of Transportation. But the time and duration of the work may change depending on progress and weather conditions.
Through traffic will be diverted to Alplaus Avenue and Maple Avenue, all properties in the area will remain accessible to residents and emergency responders.
This is part of a nearly $12 million project to upgrade Glenridge Road. One key component is widening the two railroad underpasses. One of them is currently so narrow that only one lane of traffic can pass at a time, with traffic flow controlled by a signal.
Next year, much of Glenridge Road will have to be closed so workers can install a roundabout at the intersection with Maple Avenue and replace the Glenridge Road bridge over Alplaus Kill.
