Lions breeze past Panthers

Macie Holmes scored 23 points, and Lexi Holmes added 11 points, as Mekeel Christian School defeated

Macie Holmes scored 23 points, and Lexi Holmes added 11 points, as Mekeel Christian School defeated Mayfield, 55-35, Tuesday in non-league girls’ basketball game.

Emily Taplin added another six points for the 2-1 Lions. Miranda Eagan and Alex Sheldon scored eight points for Mayfield.

State Class C champion Hoosic Valley opened with a 53-44 non-league win over Hudson Falls, as Cassidy Chapko fired in 29 points. Ellie Gonyeau lad 14 for Hudson Falls.

Lindsay Mannion’s 15 points lifted Maple Hill past Greenville, 41-25, in the Patroon Conference; and Alexis McComb’s 11 points helped Taconic Hills defeat Hudson, 33-26.

Dominic Mancini, Caleb TenEyck, Rich Bagley, Robert Bagley, Eric Moyer, Kyle Gray, Thomas TenEyck and Jackson Simpson also pinned for Fonda.

Ken Sullivan, Tim Roberson and Jordan Griswold all won by fall, but Canajoharie/Fort Plain lost its opener to Herkimer, 48-32.
