Writer and farmer Michael Kilpatrick will speak Thursday evening at Fifty South restaurant, and the restaurant will be serving food from his organic farm in Ilion.
Kilpatrick will be discussing his experience over the summer with Joel Salatin and Polyface Farm. Polyface is an organic farm in Virginia that was featured in Michael Pollan’s book “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” as a good example of sustainable agriculture.
Fifty South chef and owner Kim Klopstock is preparing a buffet dinner using produce and poultry from the Kilpatrick farm. The buffet begins at 5 p.m.; Kilpatrick will speak at 7:30 and will be on hand afterward to answer questions.
The cost for the buffet is $20, not including beverages, tax and tip. Reservations are requested but not required. Fifty South is at 2128 Doubleday Ave. (Route 50) just north of the village of Ballston Spa. For more information and to make reservations, call 884-2926.
